Metronome

Set your tempo with a dial or tap a beat. Choose your meter, subdivisions, and click sound, then save presets for next time.

Tuner

Select your instrument and tuning. Hear a reference tone and follow live flat/sharp feedback, one string at a time.

Voice

Hear Do-Re-Mi reference notes, choose a comfortable octave, and practice matching pitch with adjustable accuracy.

Before you play

Requires iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later. Live tuning needs microphone permission and a working microphone. Responsiveness varies by device and listening conditions.

The tuner shows no note

Tap Start listening and allow microphone access. Check microphone permission for Lunchbox Music Kit in iPhone or iPad Settings. Uncover the microphone, move closer, and play one sustained note in a quiet room.

The reading jumps or shows the wrong note

Play or sing one note at a time; the tuner is not a chord detector. Let the note settle and reduce background noise. Check the instrument, tuning, selected string, and octave: the 2 in E2 identifies its octave. Harmonics, microphone quality, and connected audio equipment can affect readings.

The app hears its own reference tone

Speaker playback can reach the microphone. Pause the reference tone when checking your instrument, or use headphones when listening and playing a reference together.

How do I tune safely?

Adjust strings gradually. Choose a tuning and string gauge suitable for your instrument. Never keep tightening a string just to chase the indicator. Stop if tension feels excessive and consult your instrument guidance or an experienced technician. This is a practice aid, not a guarantee of perfect tuning.

How do I practice singing?

Choose Voice, then follow the nearest note you sing or match a selected note. Tap a reference to hear the target. Adjust the key and octave to suit your range, and choose a more forgiving accuracy setting if needed. Pitch feedback does not assess overall singing technique.

How does background playback work?

In Settings, turn on Play in background to keep the metronome playing when you lock the screen or switch apps. It starts off. Microphone listening and reference tones stop when the app enters the background.

Privacy policy

Lunchbox Music Kit · Updated October 30, 2026

About this policy

This policy covers Lunchbox Music Kit, including its metronome, tuner, voice pitch practice, Strum Run, and Fret Quest. Lunchbox does not require sign-in or an account. Old Road Games website accounts are separate and are not connected to your app profile or progress.

Microphone and audio

The tuner, voice pitch practice, Strum Run, and Fret Quest use microphone input when you start a listening or playing activity. Audio is processed on your device to estimate pitch, chord-note coverage, and timing. The app does not save microphone recordings or upload microphone audio to us. Microphone listening stops when the app goes into the background. You can stop listening in the app or revoke microphone permission in device settings. Reference tones and audio previews are generated or played on your device.

Your profile, progress, and saved music

Preferences, practice presets, custom tunings, your player name and avatar, practice history, scores, achievements, quest progress, favorites, and custom riffs are stored locally on your device. These are not uploaded to an Old Road Games account or leaderboard. Files you choose to import are used for the requested app feature; exported files are saved or shared only where you choose. Device backups may include app data according to your device settings. Copies you export or back up remain under your control.

Deleting local data

You can delete individual saved items where the app offers a delete control. To remove all local app data on iPhone or iPad, use Delete App in device settings; Offload App retains app data. Reinstalling or restoring a device backup may restore previously backed-up data. Delete exported files and manage device backups separately if you want to remove those copies. We cannot access or delete the practice data stored only on your device.

Analytics and purchases

The app does not include advertising or developer-operated analytics. Apple processes App Store purchases and refund requests; we do not receive your payment-card details. Apple may provide crash diagnostics and, during TestFlight testing, usage information and feedback under Apple's settings and policies.
